INDEPENDENCE DAY on the BEACH
 
July 4th fell on a Wednesday and of course the town was packed.  The evening came and the winds calmed and it was a really nice evening and night.  The nighttime brought tons of firework displays.  See my video and pictures on my website at www.OceanShoresInfo.com/pics/july4th2018.html.  
  
FIVE STAR DEALERSHIPS SAND and SAWDUST FESTIVAL ~ JUNE 2018
 
Beautiful weather marked this weekend of fun.  One of the best annual events in Ocean Shores.  Something new was the Sand Art on the Beach, and of course wood carving creations.  Check out my pictures and video on my website at www.OceanShoresInfo.com/pics/sand&sawdustfestival2018.html. 
 
FLAG DAY PARADE ~ JUNE 2018

KITE FESTIVAL ~ JUNE 2018

GRAYS HARBOR EXPO ~ MAY 2018

OTHER NOTABLE LOCAL NEWS
  • The S. Razor Clam Dr Bridge is NOW OPEN.  After many years of being shut down, we now have the bridge back open.  It has a similar design to the Tonquin Ave Bridge.
  • The City Council approved the Library Expansion Agreement.  See the full story at http://www.northcoastnews.com/news/council-approves-library-expansion-agreement/.
  • Surely Sweet Frozen Yogurt is a new business located at 888 Pt Brown Ave NE.
  • Seaside Liquidation Center is another new business located at 865 Pt Brown Ave NW.  I went into this store the other day and it is neat...it has a bunch of various products, such as food, kitchen items, toys, etc. for really low prices.

  • July 6th-8th ~ Ocean Shores Beach Blast:  beach volleyball and some other sports.
  • July 21st-22nd ~ Big Top Promotions Gun Show:  open to the public.
  • July 27th-29th ~  Bikers at the Beach: motorcycle riders gather at the beach.
  • August 11th ~ Ocean Shores Woof-a-Thon: dog event.
  • August 17th-19th ~ 12's Fan Fest & Beach Party: celebrate the upcoming Seahawks Football Season.
  • Aug 31st-Sept 2nd ~ AAOS Arts & Crafts Festival: held at the Convention Center.
  • September 1st ~ Paddle-the-Shores: all skill levels are welcome; held at the Oyhut Bay Dock on the Lake Minard Canal.
  • September 21st-23rd ~ Whale of a Quilt Show: quilt show held at the Convention Center.
  • October 16th-21st ~ Irish Music Festival: largest Irish music festival on the West Coast.
  • November 3rd-4th ~ "Run from the Rain" Indoor Kite Flying: held at the Ocean Shores Elementary Gym.
  • November 23rd-25th ~ Winter Fanta-Sea:  Christmas shopping at the Convention Center.

2nd-Quarter/1st-Half 2018 MARKET ACTIVITY/UPDATE(April 1st - June 30th and January 1st - June 30th)
 
We are having the best year so far compared to the past few years.  Here are some very positive numbers:
  • # of Sold Properties and the Median Sales Price went up.
  • Total # of Listings is down dramatically (from 679 to 503) -- primarily due to the # of Land Listings decreasing from 472 to 328.  Out of these 328 listed lots, 95 of them are foreclosed lots owned by the City of Ocean Shores.
 
The numbers below show that Ocean Shores is still one of the leaders for affordability, availability and productivity (# of properties and volume closed) compared to the other beach towns along the Washington Coast.  Ocean Shores also offers a lot more availability and affordability for building lots too.
