NOTABLE NEWS and EVENTS

INDEPENDENCE DAY at the BEACH 2020

July 4th fell on a Saturday this year.  This was a special Independence Day to celebrate and give thanks to God for our Freedom.  And a special appreciation to our Police and Fire Departments!!!
The town was packed.  It was great to see all of the Flags flying around town and on vehicles.  It was a lovely day and evening, and the nighttime brought tons of firework displays on the Beach.  See my pictures on my Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/OceanShoresWARealEstate/media_set?set=a.4319460048094739&type=3.

CORONAVIRUS 2020
Many of our businesses were forced to shutdown due to the government shutdown (like many areas of our Country).  We are back OPEN, but with some restrictions (Phase 3).  No matter what side of the fence you are on, please be kind to them regarding the Governor's Mask "Rule", as they are trying to do their best navigating all of this.  Please SUPPORT our local businesses....they need your support!

OTHER NOTABLE LOCAL NEWS
  • Building in Ocean Shores is booming!  New home permits are being issued everyday.
  • The Theater is back open and they have brought back some movies that were popular favorites, like Superman, Batman Begins, The Never Ending Story, etc...they have new movies showing every 1-2 weeks.
  • The Quality Inn is now called the Ocean Paradise Hotel (773 Ocean Shores Blvd NW).
  • Electric "Fat Tire" Beach Bike Rentals is now back open (it suffered a fire last year).
  • New Business:  Ocean Sunset Drug Store -- located across the parking lot from the IGA and Alec's-by-the-Sea Restaurant.

2nd-Q/1st-Half 2020
MARKET ACTIVITY/UPDATE

(April 1st-June 30th & January 1st-June 30th)
  • Median Sales Price for Homes increased from $211,000 in 2018 to $229,900 in 2019 to $239,950 in 2020.
  • Median Sales Price for Lots increased from $15,000 in 2018 to $21,500 in 2019 to $25,000 in 2020.
  • The Total of Listings has greatly decreased, especially Land.  I have never seen it this low in my 15+ years as an Ocean Shores real estate broker.  The 2020 Total # is almost half of  the 2019 Total #.
  • The Total # of Pendings has increased.
