INDEPENDENCE DAY on the BEACH

SAND and SAWDUST FESTIVAL ~ JUNE 2016

OTHER NOTABLE LOCAL NEWS
  • The Kite Festival was held in June.
  • The first ever Ocean Shores Beach Blast was held from July 2nd-17th with a small carnival with rides and fair food.  The weekend of the 15th was a beach volleyball tournament.  That was fun...amateurs were allowed to participate.  I hope they come back next year!
  • The weekend of August 19th-21st was the Seahawks 12's Fan Fest.  Our town was packed!  It was neat to see all of the blue and green.
  • Airport Appreciation Day was held on August 27th, and there was a 2+hour fireworks show.  It was so much fun!
  • The County is installing sewers in Illahee (located just outside of Ocean Shores).
 
 
UPCOMING EVENTS 
  • September 9th-11th ~ AAOS Arts & Crafts Festival: held at the Convention Center.
  • September 16th-18th ~ Whale of a Quilt Show: quilt show held at the Convention Center.
  • October 20th-23rd ~ Irish Music Festival: largest Irish music festival on the West Coast.
  • November 25th-27th ~ Winter Fanta-Sea:  Christmas shopping at the Convention Center.

MARKET ACTIVITY/UPDATE(April 1st - June 30th & January 1st - June 30th)
 
We having the best year so far compared to the past few years.  Here are some very positive numbers:
  • # of Sold Properties (in all categories) went up dramatically from the 1st-half of 2014 (203 properties and $20M) to the 1st-half of 2015 (297 properties and $30M) to the 1st-half of 2016 (310 properties and $33M).
  • # of House Listings went down from 259 on 6/30/14 to 197 on 6/30/15 to 170 on 6/30/16
 
The numbers below show that Ocean Shores is still one of the leaders for affordability, availability and productivity (# of properties and volume closed) compared to the other beach towns along the Washington Coast.  Ocean Shores also offers a lot more availability and affordability for building lots.
